Dr Wilhelm Ritz qualified as a dentist in 1996 at the University of Pretoria. After working in the South African National Defence Force (Potchefstroom) as well as in Portsmouth (England), he returned to South Africa in 2000 to specialise in Periodontics and Oral Medicine.
In 2004 Dr Ritz attained with distinction, the MChD degree in Periodontics and Oral Medicine from the University of Pretoria. He received the award for the best post-graduate dental student of that year. He also won the prestigious Colgate Award for his research project entitled: “The effect of Tetracycline root detoxification on human periodontal ligament fibroblast attachment”, and presented his research at the 2005 IADR world congress in Baltimore, USA.
From 2005 to 2017 Dr Ritz was in full-time private practice at the Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital. He then joined The Implant Clinic in 2018 as an associate.
